YUMANIZUMU

Yuma Yoshimura a.k.a. YUMANIZUMU was born in Tokyo in 1980. Thanks to his family’s affinity for art, he started drawing at an early age. After graduating from the university, he exhibited flat-surfaced works primarily made using aluminum plate, as well as murals. He turns tableaux into paintings, following an original technique employing the aluminum plate normally used in printmaking. It could be said that these monochrome works have become synonymous with the name YUMANIZUMU. Following a solo exhibition in Germany in 2011, he produced more works as an artist-in-residence in South Africa, and he learned a technique “African fusion” of oneself. Among his recent solo exhibitions are “YIN AND YANG is IN TO YOU” (A WORD OF ART, Cape Town, 2011), “The Burning Silence” (Montana Gallery Barcelona, Barcelona, 2013). Tokyo is his base of operation, but he works both in Japan and abroad. Series such as “the oppressed” and “Mugenchu (Universe of limitless dreams)” comprise the main body of his work.

YUMANIZUMU　(Yuma Yoshimura) 1980年東京生まれ。アートが身近にある家庭環境により、幼少時代から絵を描きはじめる。 美大卒業後、主にアルミ板を用いた平面作品や壁画を発表。本来版画で使用されるアルミ板を素材としたタブローを、独自の手法により絵画として確立させる。 またそれらのモノクロ作品は、YUMANIZUMUの代名詞と言える。 2011年ドイツでの個展を皮切りに、南アフリカのアーティスト・イン・レジデンスにて滞在制作。”アフリカン・フュージョン”という彼自身の技法を考案 し体得した。 近年の個展は「陰と陽 IS IN TO YOU」 (2011年／A WORD OF ART／ケープタウン)、「The burning silence」 (2013年／Montana Gallery Barcelona／バルセロナ)と、東京を拠点にしながらも国内外問わず活動している。 主な作品シリーズとして「断れない人達」や「夢限宙」などがある。
